The Fashion Wins From The MTV EMA's and Hollywood Film Awards, 2018

Last night was a big one in celeb land. The MTV EMA's and Hollywood Film Awards were both held on Sunday evening and the stars were shining - literally - in metallics and sequins. See, we told you they were a thing right now.
    First, the MTV Awards.

Camila Cabello's shimmering crimson gown was a standout. Glossy dark hair is always a winner paired with rich red tones. Perfect colouring for the festive season too. Yep, it's time to start thinking about your party-wear, for real.

Red Carpet Style: All the Glitz from the MTV Video Music Awards 2018

The MTV Video Music Awards were held last night, and as usual, the VMA red carpet was way funkier than anything we’ve seen at the stuffier, more formal awards shows this year. The Oscars, the Golden Globes, the Emmy’s, even the more creatively charged Grammy’s – they all call for more restraint, and, to put it bluntly, more dignity.

    Kate Middleton - Style File

Due to popular demand, this weeks Style - File is the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton.

The Duchess gave birth to baby number three, and the country rejoiced as she left the hospital in a red dress with a white lace Peter Pan collar designed by Jenny Packham.

Kate's style is always impeccable; she is the best-dressed women in any room she enters.

Here are some of her best looks and how to recreate the look.

    The Oscars 2017

Another Oscars ceremony has come and gone (with much controversy – we may add!) but here at Joel & Son Fabrics we’re only truly interested in one element – the dresses.

Here are our favourite looks from The Oscars 2017.

    VIOLA DAVIS

Best Supporting Actress winner Viola Davis stunned in a custom coral Armani Privé silk crêpe gown. The term 'less is more' comes to mind - a simple fabric with a phenomenal drape in a stunning colour does all the talking.

    The Oscars 2016

The most prestigious awards ceremony of them all took place in Hollywood last night – The Oscars. Whilst the award ceremony itself is of course very important, here at Joel & Son Fabrics we watch it for one thing and one thing only - the Red Carpet.

Here are our favourite looks from The Oscars 2016.

    JENNIFER LAWRENCE

Best-Actress nominee Jennifer wowed in a lingerie-inspired Christian Dior gown. A delicate black chantilly lace was used to create this show-stealing look. The chantilly is gathered in layers upon layers from the waist down - perfect to create movement and body whilst a clever nude lining retains her modesty.

  9. The Oscars 2015

    The Oscars 2015

The most eagerly anticipated award ceremony in Hollywood took place last night, it was time again for The Oscars. Glitz and glamour radiated from the red carpet to the glittering diamonds draped over the star-studded guest list whilst the world’s fashion police deliberated. You’ve seen the winners so now it’s time to choose your red carpet favourites with Joel & Son… let’s talk about The Oscars 2015!

In terms of red carpet trends this year, we have definitely seen over the award season that nudes are a favourite. Our pick of this trend from the Oscars has to be Jennifer Lopez in the memorable Haute Couture runway piece from Elie Saab’s recent collection.

  10. Sizzling Scarlet

    Sizzling Scarlet

Movie star Catherine Zeta-Jones sizzled in a scarlet Angel Sanchez evening gown at this year’s Golden Globe Awards.

With intricate and strong folds around the bustier attached to a floor length A-line skirt, the Taffeta fabric held the heavy structure very well. A delicate shimmer in the material and decadent colour sets this dress apart from many.

  11. The Golden Globe Awards 2015

    The Golden Globe Awards 2015

Flashing light bulbs, the sweet smell of A-listers and the joyous sound of Cristal corks being popped can only mean one thing… Hollywood Award season is here! Oozing glamour and Haute Couture, there is nothing more we look forward to than what is coming down the red carpet. Check out Joel & Son’s favourite looks below from The Golden Globe Awards 2015.

Winter white was a major trend this year worn by stars like Kate Hudson (Atelier Versace), Rosamund Pike (custom Vera Wang) and Emily Blunt (custom Michael Kors). See our breakdown of this fashionable hue below.

  12. The Diamond Ball

    The Diamond Ball

Shining “…bright like a Diamond” as she sings in her hit song, Rihanna hosted the first annual ball benefiting ‘The Clara Lionel Foundation’ last week. Founded in 2012, the charity is in honour of the starlet’s grandparents, Clara and Lionel, and works to better the quality of life for communities globally. “One of the greatest benefits of my job was being able to start the Clara Lionel Foundation in honour of my grandparents,” said Rihanna. “There is truly nothing I’m more proud of and we’ve just gotten started. I’m excited to continue my work and thrilled to be able to host the Diamond Ball – a night that promises to be elegant and inspirational.” Raising money for health, education, arts and culture; Rihanna performed with a full orchestra and hosted the night for many A-list celebrities wearing not one but TWO stunning Zac Posen gowns.
