Dating back as early as the 18th century, sewing patterns were around but not easily available. By the 19th century, as the demand for home dressmaking grew, patterns began being sold in fashion books and magazine. By the early 20th century Vogue Patterns became a feature all to themselves, and were being sold in stores all across America.
A sewing pattern is a template from which the parts of the garment are traced or knitted onto the fabrics before being cut out and assembled, allowing you to choose your fabric and style.
Here at Joel & Son Fabrics, with over 300 patterns to choose from, you’re sure to find a pattern for any one of your dressmaking fancies.
