Slip Into Silk - What Is A Silk Jacquard?

As we quickly drift towards Spring, we are feeling inspired by summery print dresses on the runways and stunning new deliveries of printed silk jacquards are arriving daily.

    Dolce & Gabbana

Jacquard silk gives the impression of a print on a print, as there is a slightly raised, soft pattern woven underneath the print.

Joel & Son Fabrics are globally renowned for our jacquards! They are crease- resistant and make up beautifully, sourced from only the finest Italian fabric mills, and we usually have the matching silk chiffon as well.

  11. Remembering Karl Lagerfeld

    Remembering Karl Lagerfeld

Iconic designer. Stylistic visionary. A man whose fashion artistry helped to shape the entire industry as we know it, during a career spanning more than 60 years. Today we remember Karl Lagerfeld, who sadly passed away this morning at the age of 85.

  12. Did You Know...Custom Clothing Is More Accessible Than You Think!

Did You Know...Custom Clothing Is More Accessible Than You Think!

Did you know that recreating your favourite dress/skirt, kaftan or even that designer-inspired tweed jacket, can be as simple as purchasing some quality fabric and going to a great dressmaker.

You would probably be surprised (and delighted!) to learn that the price of having a garment made up for you is often comparable to off-the-rack options. Most modern fabrics are woven in a wide width, so it can be very cost-effective to have your clothes custom-made, not to mention gratifying to replicate your (seen-better-days-but-fits-like-a-glove dress...).

    What you need:

You do not need a designer. You just need the right dressmaker or tailor.  Joel & Son are always happy to recommend talented clothiers who have been shopping with us for years (and in some cases, decades).
