Four SAG Awards Looks That Stole The Show!

Putting the actual trophy winners from Sunday's Screen Actor's Guild Awards aside, these four ladies absolutely owned the red carpet and won the evening's fashion show hands down, in our couture obsessed opinion! Agree?

  2. Our Afternoon With St George's Children's Hospital

Our Afternoon With St George's Children's Hospital

On Friday 11th January, the Joel & Son Fabrics team paid a very special visit to the wonderful St George's Children's Hospital, in South London, to hand deliver bags and bags (and bags) of gifts for the brave children in their care.

So many of our lovely customers sent in brand new toys over the holiday period, for us to pass on, and clicked on to the hospital's fundraising link to donate to the charity. The awesome Ed Sheeran also sent in a big box of merchandise! Thank you Ed! It was a joy for us to see the children's faces light up as they spotted their treasure haul - games, action figures, dolls, craft sets and remote controlled gadgets, to name just a few!

These spirited children endure so much, and often have siblings who are also forced to spend endless days, weeks and months in the facility alongside

Wedding Dress Alternatives: Bridal Suits & Jumpsuits

Not every bride sees herself in a dress for her big day. Not into skirts/dresses full stop? Maybe it's your second wedding and you don't want frothy or traditional bridal-wear. Whatever the reason, there are other options, and they can look awesome.

Many a stylish woman has opted for a chic trouser or suiting look for their wedding day, and by the way, bridal pant styles are very in for 2019. We've seen some incredible bridal jumpsuits on the 2019 bridal collection runways, which you can see for yourself below, along with some stunning celebrity versions of alternative bridal fashion that we’ve loved and lauded over the years.

  6. Coral - The Colour Of 2019.

Coral - The Colour Of 2019.

So, apparently, having a 'colour of the year' is a thing these days, and who better to make the call on this than colour institute, Pantone, AKA the universal language of colour standards.

Their decision to name 'Living Coral' the 'one' for 2019 is based on research into what's been seen in movies, fashion, art, travel destinations etc, which basically means that this bright, honeyed, pinky orange was all over the runways in 2018, and therefore all over the stars, and therefore - soon to be all over all of us!

Fun, bold corals and pretty peachy tones are popping up all over the place. Now it's your turn. Make a splash with it. It's a playful, expressive colour palette, so have some fun with it and look gorge.

  8. A Warm Welcome Back To: The Slip Dress!

A Warm Welcome Back To: The Slip Dress!

Want an easy, breezy update to your 2019 wardrobe? Silky slip dresses, that good old 90s fashion superstar, have bounced right back into style in all their slinky, comfy glory, and with them, they've brought their close cousin, the slip skirt.

(Kate Moss was a 90s slip dress queen)

If you remember them from the first time around, you're probably remembering how comfortable slip dresses are, and cheering that you can throw them on again without looking like you've wandered off the Party of Five set. And if you're new to the style, prepare to fall in love. These guys can go anywhere, a little bit slinky for evening wear or pared back with a sweater or tee for a more casual vibe. They're also a great transitional piece - warm it up with a knit on top and you've got a very Autumn (or English summer) friendly look.

  9. The Fashion Trends You'll Be Embracing In 2019

The Fashion Trends You'll Be Embracing In 2019

Wondering what you'll be wearing this year? Well...

Tie-Dye. It's baaack. We saw it trickling into the New York Fashion Week shows in September, but this time around, the dyes are distinct and crisp colours, looking more print-like than the fuzzy colour merges of the originals. We know you thought you'd never go back there, but we've got news for you - you're about to.

  10. Red Carpet Winners: Golden Globes 2019

Red Carpet Winners: Golden Globes 2019

Hollywood has no time for a New Years hangover. It's straight into (self) celebration mode come the first week of January, and last night's Golden Globes kicked off the major ceremonies with a stylish bang.

It was a return to colour after last year's all-black code (in recognition of the Time's Up movement). Lady Gaga sashayed onto the red carpet in an endless cloud of lusciously lilac Valentino. A divisive choice amongst critics and viewers, but we kinda love it.

  12. The Two Fabric Trends That Defined 2018: Faux Fur And Velvet

The Two Fabric Trends That Defined 2018: Faux Fur And Velvet

Unless you spent 2018 underwater, you probably noticed an explosion of faux fur and velvet in fashion this year. These two fabric trends were absolutely everywhere, filtering down from the couture runways and adding a touch of (animal cruelty-free) glamour to wardrobes everywhere.

    Stella McCartney

We looked on with pride as London Fashion Week became the first international fashion event to ban genuine fur, and we watched as faux fur trims, collars, jackets and coats became ubiquitous on catwalks, in high-end design and all over the high street. Faux
