    There's Something About Lace

Softly feminine. Subtly sexy. Lace is a fabric that is timeless in its dainty appeal, the material of choice for delicate glamour and romanticism. Through turning seasons and changing fashions, this decorative openwork fabric has endured as a bastion of feminine style, regularly seen on designer runways, in bridal wear and within elements of home décor.

Wedding Dress Fabric: A Guide To All Of The Bridal Silks

Silk is the most luxurious of fabrics, made entirely of natural fibres. It's an extremely popular choice for bridal fabric and comes in many forms and styles. Joel and Son Fabrics stocks an enormous range of beautiful, quality silks for use as wedding dress material, so we've put together this quick guide on the bridal silk fabrics available, to help you select the perfect one for your dream dress.

Silk Chiffon is a sheer and elegant fabric with a texture similar to crepe. It is both stronger and heavier than silk gauze, with a beautiful, soft drape. The method in which it is woven ensures that even the heaviest weights of silk chiffon remain sheer.

Spring/Summer 2019, according to Victoria Beckham

Spring/Summer ’19 is a chic and feminine, but practical, affair, according to Victoria Beckham, who unveiled her 10th anniversary collection at London Fashion Week on Sunday to an assembly of fashion industry peers, celebrity guests…and her entire family.

Harper, Cruz, Romeo, Brooklyn and David Beckham proudly looked on as mummy V took her audience on a journey through delicate shirts and drapey knits and silks, taffeta trench coats and pretty, polished satins. Luxurious pieces with flattering lines, that remain wearable and accessible for modern women.

100% Fur-Free! London Fashion Week Makes Us Proud.

Welcome to the future, Fashion Week!

For the first time ever, London Fashion Week has been presented entirely without fur, making it the first of the big fashion weeks held around the globe to be deemed a fur-free zone. And we couldn't be happier!

Animal rights campaigners have put increasing pressure on the events to banish genuine fur from their catwalks, and as more and more designers embrace the use of fur substitutes, the prospect of it disappearing from runways altogether heads closer to reality.  Leading British fashion houses like Burberry, Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood have very publicly implemented fur-free policies in recent years, alongside high-profile brands such as Gucci, Versace and Armani, amongst others.

A Feast of the Famous & The Fabulous: Ralph Lauren's 50th Anniversary Celebrations at NY Fashion Week 2018.

New York Fashion week 2018 kicked off last Thursday with the usual flurry of celebrities, media throngs and of course,  gorgeous designer clothing lighting the path to our 2019 wardrobes.

Amidst the fabrics, fashions and festivities, Ralph Lauren’s 50th anniversary extravaganza was held and took its place as the glittering centrepiece of this years schedule. The celebration on Friday night, at the Bethedsa Terrace in Central Park, began with a runway show and ended with a lavish, black-tie dinner party, with a guest list comprised of the very famous, the very wealthy and the very beautiful, all paying grateful homage to Ralph Lauren.

How Long Does It Take to Create a Couture Piece?

We absolutely adore the Ralph and Russo dress that Constance Wu wore to the LA premiere of Crazy Rich Asians.

And no wonder. Her beautiful evening gown was created in the finest of haute couture traditions: lashings of extravagant adornment (crystals and diamonds), nearly 500 hours of meticulous hand-stitched embroidery, and about 275 hours of further work to finish the dress. Even if your maths is terrible, you've probably clocked that this adds up to an extraordinary amount of time for one, single piece.

But that’s the thing about haute couture. It is a term that’s thr
