Valentino

After an apprenticeship under Guy Laroche and Balenciaga, Valentino set up a fashion house in Rome in 1959. Valentino became known for his red dresses – soon to be known in the fashion industry as "Valentino red." Valentino's international debut took place in 1962 in Florence with his first show being a true hit and he was soon dressing the international ‘best-dressed’ crowd. Amongst them Jacqueline Kennedy. In 1966, he achieved his biggest triumph, an all-white collection that became famous for the "V" logo. Valentino retired in January 2008.
