The Oscars 2014: Best Dressed

Oh how The Oscars have evolved in recent years. When it all began back in the 1920s, it really was all about recognising the Crème De La Crème of the acting world. But these days, let's face it. It’s about one thing and one thing only – those red carpet gowns! So let’s get straight to the point. Here is our list of Best Dressed Winners from last night’s Oscars 2014.

LUPITA NYONG’O IN PRADA

Simplicity at it’s best. The 12 Years a Slave star wore a stunning baby blue custom made dress by Prada. Using a pleated silk georgette with added crystal beading on the folds creating the most subtle of sparkles – simply perfect! A georgette is slightly thicker than a chiffon - therefore slightly less sheer and slightly heavier too. To recreate this look, we recommend around 8 metres of silk georgette. Just enough to create those gorgeous pleats and a small train.

SANDRA BULLOCK IN ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

Another simple statement deep blue silk satin dress. This style of dress is especially flattering on women with an hour glass shape, pulling you in at the waist and accentuating curves in all the right places. To recreate this look, we recommend roughly 5.5 metres of silk satin. This gives enough silk to create the sash at the front and the train.

ANNE HATHAWAY IN GUCCI

A classic shape with an edgy twist – Anne absolutely dazzled in this dress by Gucci. To recreate this look, we recommend around 2 metres of silk marocain crepe and 75cm for the embroidered bodice.

ENNIFER LAWRENCE IN DIOR

She really is the ‘it girl’ of the moment and she stunned us in a coral structured dress by Dior. To create this structured look, we recommend using a silk zibeline of which around 2.5 metres would suffice.

CATE BLANCHET IN ARMANI PRIVÉ

For us, Cate’s nude embroidered tulle gown stole the show. The colouring of the tulle is perfect for her fair skin tone. To recreate this look, we recommend around 4 metres of embroidered tulle.
