The Fashion Trends You'll Be Embracing In 2019

Wondering what you'll be wearing this year? Well...

Tie-Dye. It's baaack. We saw it trickling into the New York Fashion Week shows in September, but this time around, the dyes are distinct and crisp colours, looking more print-like than the fuzzy colour merges of the originals. We know you thought you'd never go back there, but we've got news for you - you're about to.

Shorts. Tailored, loose, mini, to the knees - anything goes, so get ready for shorts to replace your skirts this summer.

Gather round: Ruching and tight pleats are everywhere. Pleats aren't a new trend but the latest version is a micro-pleat, tight pleating that has more movement and changes the silhouette as it expands and contracts. Also, ruched dresses and tops were in a number of collections, which is great news for all because some well placed ruching in a quality fabric with a bit of stretch, is very flattering.

Boilersuits. A piece of utilitarian fashion that's set to be huge this year: the boilersuit. Good for work, good for play. Some of our favourites;

Bows. A strong return to femininity in 2019, with bows appearing on everything from accessories, to blouses, to trousers. As a delicate trim or a bold, bouncy stand-out feature, bows are big right now.

Fringing. Embrace the fringe because your skirts, jackets and just about anything else you can wear, is in for a dose of Western-inspired tassles.

Neon. Vivid, fluro colours of the 80s are again in vogue, brightening up closets top to toe.

Animal print. This one never really goes away but it was particularly popular in 2018 and shows no sign of stopping. The trusty leopard print has undergone a bit of a makeover in recent times, finding its feet in genteel silk chiffon blouses, elegant cashmere sweaters and classic midi skirts. It's set to continue its run in both high-end and street-style, so buy the leopard trousers. They're awesome.
