Every autumn, as the shorter days and colder nights draw in, we start thinking about this year’s staple winter coat. An important decision, and an investment, that shapes your look for the coming season and (if you get it right) for years to come too.
For those quite rightly treating this coat as an investment for years to come, we always recommend a wool or cashmere fabric, or a blend of the two. Wool is the best fabric to keep you warm and cashmere is the best fabric for a luxurious finish.
So whether you're looking for warmth, luxury or a bit of both, take some inspiration from our favourite wool & cashmere styles for this Autumn/Winter 2016.
DOUBLE FACED
We love this look - using a double sided fabric is fun, showing how the inside of your coat is just as important as the outside. No lining required!
Boss used double sided fabric in a different way - to create block colour panels.
BLOCK COLOUR
The most obvious choice of all is a block colour cashmere/wool coat. Make sure to choose a colour that you love and feel comfortable wearing. Blacks, greys, beiges & camels are a no-brainer that you are guaranteed to be able to wear for seasons to come.
PATTERNED
Choosing a classic investment coat doesn't always mean you have to choose a plain fabric. Calvin Klein Collection & Victoria Beckham demonstrated how choosing a classic check design is just as useful as a plain coat that can be worn year after year.
