Fishnets & Safety Pins

After David Bowie arrived at the V&A museum, and Madonna arrived at the Met Galla, the world seems to have gone into a punk frenzy. Even if safety pins and ripped fishnet stocking aren't to your taste, classic versions of kilts and school uniforms are a look for the less-punky to follow the trend this winter. Whatever spectrum of the punk-o-meter you are and whether you remember it's first cycle or not, Punk is certainly not dead.

It was a bold step for the Met to theme the gala, and the reception was mixed. We discussed that it was only those attendees that were around during the punk era, that knew what to wear. There was also the discussion that punk was not about the fashion, but about rebelling against how the world was turning at the time. But whatever way you look at it, Punk made a huge influence in it's day, and it's forever going to inspire designers from all walks of the creative world.
