Journey to the couture wonderland of Christian Dior with Joel & Son Fabrics.
This week, we were taken to the incredible Dior exhibition, currently on show at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
'Dior: Designer of Dreams' is fashion heaven, gracefully tracing Dior's evolution from its founding designer's vision, through to the present day. A feast of artistry, elegant designs, exquisite detail, and of course, fabulous fabrics that took our breath away.
The classic Dior aesthetic of nipped in waists and billowing skirts was inspired by the shapes of flowers and nature that so enchanted a young Christian Dior. He was awed by the beauty of women and celebrated the female form with his feminine, hourglass silhouettes.

Christian Dior created this dress especially for Princess Margaret's 21st birthday in 1951.
Silk organza, embellished with gold straw embroidery and sequins. This gown typified the New Look silhouette for which he was famous - small waist and full skirt. We still admire the creations coming from the House of Dior today, many decades later.
John Galliano, the Creative Director of Dior at the time, designed this deep blue, silk satin and lace dress for Princess Diana to wear to Dior's 50th anniversary gala at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1996.
Jennifer Lawrence wore this flowing silk tulle and jersey special haute couture creation from current Dior Creative Director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, in 2016.
The splendour of the Dior Ballroom was a fitting finale. A dazzling collection of Dior evening-wear glamour at its finest. The lights dimmed and then gently rose again at intervals, infusing the room with a dreamy ambience befitting the magic of that which lay before us.
