Coat Trends: Autumn/Winter 2015/16. Create your Perfect Coat

The mercury may still be telling us it’s summertime but any forward thinking fashionista will already be considering her options for her biggest winter fashion statement– the coat. The Autumn/Winter 2015 shows exhibited that there is an on-trend option for every shape and style, and we salute the fashion houses for their diversity this coming season.

Here are our best picks.

MILITARY

A seasonal classic. Our favourites this season come from Chloé who brought us double breasted coats with oversized lapels, longline silhouettes and a military must-have gold button. The military coat can be worn by all shapes - if you're slim, choose an above-the-knee cut and wear buttoned up. If you're more shapely, choose a longer, just over-the-knee length to skim hips and thighs and leave the buttons open.

Chanel also offered a more modern version of the military coat by switching the classic gold button for broad shoulders and exaggerated epaulettes. This is a great choice for a pear shape figure as the broad shoulders will balance out your silhouette.

RED RIDING HOOD CAPES

Christian Dior put on a rather fairytale-like display of reversible cape coats. Oversized and buttonless with slits for the arms and a very Red Riding Hood feel. These longline, floor sweeping coats are ideal for the taller woman. If you're not tall, a shorter, mid-thigh length cape coat will work wonders.
